Adhesive - Climbing Drum

A Chatillon system may be used to determine the elastic/plastic deformation, penetration resistance and the material response to stretching. Energy required for perforation are also calculated.A Climbing Drum test is used to determine the peel resistance of adhesive bonds between a relatively flexible adherend and a rigid adherend. This type of test is also used to determine the cure quality of brittle adhesives. A high peel value may be indicative of an incomplete cure.

The Chatillon system will determine the average, maximum and minimum peeling load.

Industry standards for conducting a climbing drum test are:
- ASTM D-1781
