Chatillon® Grips & Fixtures
Coefficient of Friction (COF)
The following grips and fixtures are used to measure the force required to overcome the frictional resistance between two imposed surfaces, when one surface is moved relative to the other along their plane of contact.
The static friction is determined by the force required to overcome the initial resistance between the two surfaces.
The kinetic friction is determined by the subsequent force when continuously sliding at a constant rate.
